Ching Yan-chi (Hung Sin Nui) and her husband Wong Ka-ping (Cheung Ying) have been married for three years with three children. Though a loving family, poverty casts a shadow over them. Ka-ping dies from overwork and Yan-chi is left all alone to bring up her children. Eldest son Kwok-kei (Cheung Ying) is a spoilt brat who goes astray, while daughter Ching-han (Ai Man) is a materialistic girl. Only the hardworking youngest son Kwok-leong (Yeung Fan) is sympathetic to his mother. Adapted from a hit radio drama and starring Hung Sin Nui, A Mother’s Tears was a phenomenal blockbuster. Hung, with her exceptional performance, lived the part as the mother who dedicated her life to her children.
