This 1970 comedy shares the same Chinese title and basic concept with 1959’s Lovingly Yours , but there’s no serious social message nor generational conflict to be found here. Instead, the conflict here is between lifelong nemeses Lee (Leung Sing-po) and Chow (Wei Pin-ao). In the beginning of the story, Guo-dong (Chin Feng) and Pearl (Ching Li) are set to marry with the support from the parents of both sides. However, when Lee and Chow discover that the soon-to-be-wed couple is their own children, they will stop at nothing to stop the wedding from happening. Director Chun Kim attempts to bring a fresh way to tell this well-worn story, using clear contrast such as height or social class to emphasise the conflict between characters. The film also features a brilliantly cartoonish finale in which the battling fathers transform into samurais, boxers, cowboys and even James Bond.
