Early film pioneer Lai Man-wai put together a small crew in the 1920s to shoot documentaries in Hong Kong and China, sometimes following Sun Yat-sen in Guangdong, Nanjing and Beijing in the revered Revolution leader's efforts to unify China after the new republic was besieged by warlords. The footage, including precious records of Sun's Northern Expedition, was edited into feature length and shown publicly as A Page of History, released by Lai's China Sun Motion Picture Co. The film had deteriorated over the years and Lai's descendents managed to salvage 34 minutes of the footage in the 1970s. The restored print was donated to the Hong Kong Film Archive a few years ago. (Shown with A Hundred Years Ago)
