Seven years after George Melies's A Trip to the Moon, Une Excursion sur Jupiter takes science fiction cinema to more celestial heights with imaginative story, ornate sets and inventive art design, captured by occasional camera movements. The film's fantastic tone is also enhanced by beautiful stencil coloring, which had largely replaced hand coloring by then.
