The Pearl Necklace is a production of the Great Wall, first established in the U.S. by a group of Chinese professionals who, upset over the racism in American films, wanted to foster better portrayal of the Chinese on screen. A cautionary moral tale that examines the perils of vanity, it's directed by C.Y. Lee, an engineer who directed many of Great Wall's films, and scripted by Hou Yao, who went on to become one of early cinema's most noted directors.
