A Cinematic Journey
Since the establishment of the Archive at its permanent site in Sai Wan Ho in 2001, we have organised a varied and dynamic range of themed screenings, exhibitions, seminars and post-screening talks. We started curating our first themed screening programme ‘Time to Laugh, Time to Sing—Cantonese Comedies of the 50s & 60s' and exhibition ‘Living in Hong Kong—the 50s & 60s' in 2001. Up to this day, we have held over 3,000 sessions of screenings and over 50 exhibitions, including our flagship programmes ‘100 Must-See Hong Kong Movies', ‘Morning Matinee', ‘Archival Gems', and ‘Movie Talk' series.
With staunch support from the film industry, the Archive and its audience have witnessed together the transformation and development of Hong Kong film culture over the past 20 years. Together with the film industry and the general public, the Archive is poised to continue deepening and promoting Hong Kong's film culture as well as creating more memorable cinematic moments in the years to come.
